Fire and Smoke Damage Assessments

A fire in a residence or building is one of the most devasting of types of loses building owners and occupants may have to face. Even a small fires may result in multi-faceted damages within a structure, included smoke and soot migration, water damages and subsequent mould growth, and structural damage.

 

At Brickquill, we understand the impact a fire and subsequent smoke damages have on a building. Owners are typically looking see what contents can be salvaged, and how soon the indoor air quality can be returned to acceptable conditions. Our understanding of building science helps us to delineate smoke migration / infiltration, and develop a scope for remediation.

  What we do?

  • Sampling on building materials and contents for soot using tape-lift sampling techniques.

  • Assessment of the building for potential pathways of smoke migration.

  • Using our knowledge of building science, we interpret the results of assessments to prepare reports with recommendations for fire damage abatement. Our scopes of work include detailed recommendations for removals and / or cleaning of damaged building materials.

  • Perform indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments before and / or after fire damage restoration to evaluate whether fire-related air quality parameters are within acceptable limits.
